Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, have advocated the inclusion of more youths in policy making of Nigeria’s governance.

The stakeholders made this known at a one-day APGA Youth Symposium held at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Awka. The Symposium which has its theme as ” Resounding the Echoes of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu’s Special Wish For All Progressives Grand Alliance and Ndigbo, The Journey So Far and The Sustenance Role of APGA Youth”, attracted APGA youths from Anambra State, political office holders, government functionaries, among others.

Blessing Uchendu reports that while addressing the Youths, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, represented by the Member Representing Aguata Constituency One at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Carter Nnamdi Umeh, extolled the contributions of the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu to the growth of APGA, and enjoined Igbo youths to embrace APGA as a strong political force in honor of the late Ikemba Nnewi.

Chief Oye highlighted the importance of all the party structures, noting that all hands must be on deck as the next gubernatorial election in Anambra State will determine the future of the state and the fate of Ndigbo in the Nigerian political structure. Delivering his speech at the event, the son of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and member of APGA Board of Trustees, Chief Emeka Ojukwu (Jnr) represented by Chief Anthony Chigbo, noted that APGA must remain the bargaining platform of Ndigbo, calling on APGA leaders to emulate the south west’s single political party dominance, by regionalizing APGA in the South East as the bid for Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction continues to gather momentum. In their various remarks, the Anambra State Chairman APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, represented by the Anambra State Secretary of the party, Barrister Tony Ifeanya, the Chairman on the Occasion, Dr Forster Ihejiofor, the Member representing Nnewi North at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Nonso Smart Okafor, noted that youths must be properly guided to have a re-constructured mind that would create a better future and commended Governor Willie Obiano for giving youths a quality say in his administration.

The convener of the programme who is also the Anambra State APGA Youth Leader, Comrade Magnus Eziokwu, pointed out that the youths came together with a united mindset to assess their readiness for next year’s election in Anambra State.

Other dignitaries who spoke at the event included the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, the Managing Director of Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, ANSAA, Chief Jude Emecheta, among others. The event also featured presentation of awards of excellence to distinguished individuals.
