Ihuokpala Village in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government area of Anambra State has honoured one of their own Mrs Chinyere Okonkwo a woman  known for her fight for gender equality.

Mrs Okonkwo, was honoured with two titles, Osodieme and Ugogbe Umunwanyi titles.

The conferment was carried out by the Umunna and Iyom Umunna  of the kindred held at Obu Umuezeokpala, Ihuokpala Ekwulobia, where family memnbers, friends and well-wishers came to felicitate with her.

Mrs Okonkwo is a mid-wife who has risen to the rank of matron and a teacher who has trained, empowered women and stood up for the equality of all genders in her community and beyond.

In a homily to kick start the ceremony, the officiating priest, Reverend Father Christopher Ezeonu, urged Christians and especially women to always live a life of emulation that will speak volume of them anywhere they find themselves.

According to the leader of Ndi Iyom Umunna of the kindred, Mrs. Njideka Okafor, the title is to appreciate her good deeds, exemplary lifestyle.

She explained that the titles are the highest titles of such given to women who have distinguished themselves through their philanthropic works, exemplary lifestyle and contributions to the community.

Also speaking, the Chairman Association of General And Private Medical Practitioners, AGPMP Anambra State Chapter, Mrs. Chinelo Isiogu alongside the husband to the celebrant Nze Emmanuel Okonkwo while congratulating the celebrant, described her as a humble fellow, and prayed for God’s continuous guidance upon her and her household.

In her appreciation, Mrs Okonkwo filled with excitement thanked the Community, for the hounour, promising not to relent in her service to humanity.
