Abba Community in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State has elected a seven-man executive to pilot the affairs of Abba Town Union for the next three years.

The exercise, supervised by security agencies, and officials from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, led by Mrs. Grace Ginikanwa, led to the emergence of Mr. Alex Ekwuagana as the President-General, Dan Mmadu, Vice President-General, Victor Okeke, Secretary and Marcel Onyilo, Assistant Secretary.

Others are Emmanuel Ekeigwe, Financial Secretary, Ikechukwu Ibemesi, Treasurer, and Godwin Ekwealor, Public Relations Officer.

Speaking shortly after the election, Mrs. Ginikanwa, commended Abba Community for being peaceful and transparent in choosing their leaders.

The traditional ruler of Abba, Igwe  Leonard Eze, and prominent sons of Abba, including  Chiefs Pius Nweke and Cosmas Agagbo, who solicited wise counsel from Abba people for the newly elected Town Union leadership, expressed confidence in the ability of the new Abba Town Union Executive to deliver on its mandates.

Earlier in his remark, the immediate past President-General of Abba Town Union, Engineer Benneth Anekwe, unveiled that the successes recorded by his administration hinged on supports, contributions and constructive criticisms of well-meaning Ndi-Abba, urging them to extend same to the new leadership.

In his acceptance speech, the new President-General, Mr. Ekwuagana, thanked Abba people for finding them worthy for the noble task, promising to live up to expectations, even as he called for unity and collective efforts in addressing challenges facing the community.

Oath of office was administered on members of the new executive by the Traditional Prime Minister of the community, Sir Anselm Okafor.
