The Federal Government has perfdisbursed the sum of one hundred and twenty-three point three-four-eight billion naira to State governments in the second round of performance-based grants under the State’s Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainability Programme.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, who disclosed this in Abuja explained that the disbursement followed the achievement of results by the States in the just concluded 2019 Annual Performance Assessment.

According to Mrs. Ahmed, the disbursement included ninety-one point four-eight billion naira of performance-based grants for the 2019 Annual Performance Assessment results achieved by thirty-two eligible States across various Disbursement Linked Indicators covering fiscal transparency, accountability, expenditure efficiency, revenue mobilization and debt sustainability.

The Minister disclosed that the second part of the disbursement involved a new COVID-19 response; the implementation of a tax compliance relief programme for individual tax payers and businesses by States by thirtieth September 2020 where thirty-four out of thirty-six States were able to achieve the results for this new criteria for the total of thirty-two point three billion naira of grants.
