The Founder of Tonimas Nigeria Limited, Dr. Anthony Obiagboso Enukeme, OON, would have been seventy-seven years old today, if he was alive. The late Sir Anthony, Ezeana-Akuvom, Onowu Neni, was born on January 21, 1944 into the family of late Chief and Mrs. Eyisi Enukeme of Umudioka Village, Neni.

With headquarters at Aba, Abia State, Tonimas Nigeria Limited has branches in all the thirty-six states of the federation as well as the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and some other countries in West Africa. However, following its quality, high standards and international best practices, Tonimas brands of lubricants have been certified by the Nigeria Industrial Standards (NIS). The Engine Oil, for its part, has the Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme, (MANCAP) certificate, among other worthy certifications.

Tonimas Nigeria Limited is also into other areas like packaging of Tonimas bottle and sachet water. The late Dr. Anthony Enukeme also established the White Castle Hotels at Neni in Anaocha local Government Area to encourage tourism and hospitality. He equally opened an Aluminum factory at Neni, where long span aluminum roofing sheets and nails of different sizes are produced. Tonimas conglomerate is equally into property development, Insurance brokerage and others.

The late Dr. Anthony Enukeme held a Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Administration and a Masters Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, both from Abia State University, Uturu. He was awarded an Honourary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. He was the Worthy President, Knights of Saint John’s International, Commandery 445, Aba, Abia State, as well as the Grand President of the Owerri Grand Commandery.

Late Dr. Anthony Enukeme, as a committed Christian, built, furnished and handed over Saint James’ Catholic Church at his home town, Neni, with Reverend Fathers’ House and other facilities in place for worship. Dr. Enukeme, was the Vice Chairman of Awka Catholic Diocesan Pastoral Council and a member of the Papal Knight, Order of Saint Gregory the Great, KSG.

Dr. Enukeme founded the Anambra State Council of Traditional Prime Ministers (Ndi Onowu). He was its President and a former President, Aba Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ACCIMA). Tonimas Nigeria Limited offers employment to over nine thousand people across the country, regardless of tribe, religion or creed.

A philanthropist per excellence, the late Dr. Enukeme was the President of Lubricant Producers Association of Nigeria (LUPAN) and awarded secondary and university scholarships to many youths. He also provided water and Medicare to his people, as well as constructed and maintained feeder and link roads in his country home, Neni, which prompted a non-governmental organization, the Martina Chinyere Enidom foundation, to honour him with an award of excellence on community development.

Dr. Enukeme was a proud recipient of Merit Award on Business Excellence by the National Affairs Society of Nigeria. Others include a Merit Award on Business Productivity by the Institute of Corporate Chairmen of Nigeria, Community Service Award by the Rotary Club International, among many others.

The late Dr. Enukeme also received a Golden Award from Saint Peter’s Christian Fathers Association, CKC Cathedral Parish, Aba; Eminent Patriotic Merit Award by Pan-African and Philanthropic Organization; Distinguished Persons and Community Service Award by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), Awka. He was a member of board of trustees of the All Progressives Grand Alliance.

Dr. Enukeme was the recipient of Enyi-Abia title from the Abia State Government for his contributions to the development of the state and also Anya-Anaocha by all the traditional rulers in Anaocha local government area for all his efforts to touch lives within and outside the state, among numerous other recognitions.

Dr. Enukeme was happily married to Iyom Mary Uzoaku Enukeme (Iyom Mmiliaku) and the marriage was blessed with six children. As Chief Anthony Enukeme clocks seventy-seven today, post humus, our prayer is that the Almighty God will continue to grant him eternal repose.
