The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa has warned illegal developers and land speculators within Anambra State to desist from their actions forthwith or face the full wrath of the law.

Venerable Okwuosa also informed that the agency has zero tolerance for people building on waterways, under high tension cables and other illegal locations, which he said can endanger lives or property.

Venerable Okwuosa gave the warnings in Awka while frowning at some developers, who do not follow proper building processes.

He emphasized that if people will learn to follow due process in building structures, there will be less incidence of building collapse in the state.

While stating that there is no cutting corners in obtaining building plan in the state as the agency is properly documenting every approval granted since inception in 2014, the ACTDA boss noted that every approval in disposal of any developer must meet Awka Capital Territory Development Authority basic requirements, and any presentation of fake document to the agency by the developer renders the approval void even when it has already been granted.

Referencing section twenty of the Local Authority Building Regulation Law 2014, Venerable Okwuosa made it clear that every approval granted by Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, has a life expectancy of two years, which implies that after two years if the approval is not put into use, it becomes invalid, and called on developers, whose approvals have not been used after two years to revisit Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, for a new approval.

He said that the agency has commenced the review of building plan approvals parading by some individuals as authentic, disclosing that six plan approvals have already been revoked under the process.
