The Anambra South Zonal Commander of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Mr Emmanuel Obi, has called for improved synergy between environmental stakeholders in sensitizing Ndi Anambra on the benefits of sanitation and hygiene.

Mr Obi made the call while carrying out enforcement during the End of the month sanitation exercise for January 2021 within Nnewi, Ozubulu and Ihiala axis.

Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha who monitored the exercise reports that while speaking during the exercise at Nnewi, Mr Obi noted that the continuous decrease in the level of compliance with regards to sanitation exercise sends a negative signal to the healthy environment Anambra State government has secured in the past years.

According to Mr Obi, most people neglect environmental laws as a result of not being penalized for violation, urging the relevant authorities to adopt more strict and effective measures in punishing the offenders.

Mr Obi while commending those who took part in the exercise advised all Anambra residents to help the state government in building a safe and healthy Anambra for the interest of all.

Although some people were spotted carrying out sanitation exercise within their locality and business premises by the ABS during the monitoring exercise, this Month’s sanitation exercise recorded low compliance within Nnewi, Ozubulu and its environs, Okija and Umunnamehi road, Nkwo Ogbe Market Ihiala as many were seen going about their normal businesses with more vehicular and human movements witnessed.
