In a keen pursuit of his pledge to make education competitive in his constituency, the Member Representing Ihiala Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Honourable Ifeanyi Momah, has donated educational aids worth millions of naira to six primary schools under his constituency.
Items donated to the schools by the federal legislator included computer sets with Uninterrupted Power Supply, UPS sets, generator sets, laser printers, storage lockers, textbooks, chalks, marker board, fifty desks and fifty chairs for each school and other instructional materials.
Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe, reports that the benefiting schools were Ezegedegwum Primary School, Ubahu, Okija Ubahumuonum Primary School, Ubahumuonum, Uhuobo Community Primary School, Uhuobo, Okija, Orsu Central School, Orsumoghu, Uzoakwa Community Primary School, Uzoakwa, Ihiala and Uli Central School, Uli.
The project, captioned “Ihiala School Outreach”, is implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC.
Honourable Momah, who was elected into the Green Chambers in January, 2019, under the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is the Chairman, House Committee on FCT Judiciary.
According to Honourable Momah, who spoke shortly before presenting the materials to the six schools, the best period to begin human empowerment is from the cradle; the earliest stage of life, noting that to empower the schools means that tomorrow’s future, where young people have been given the best of governance, is maximally fortified.
He also noted that the donation was the first phase as all the public schools and some private-owned ones in Ihiala Federal Constituency would be fully equipped to meet the demands of modern day learning, assuring that every development and empowerment programs initiated by his office would be made to go evenly round.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Ihiala Local Government Area, Engineer Jude Obi, noted that the greatest foundation of a developed society is quality education, noting that what Honourable Momah has done is significant to leadership and quality representation.
In their separate remarks, the APGA Chairman in Ihiala Local Government Area, Honourable Gozie Chukwudum and the APGA Woman Leader in the council, Lady Ugochi Obi, explained that Honourable Momah has continued to reciprocate the faith that the Ihiala people put in him, summarizing that the people of the area are beginning to feel the impact of a committed representation.
Other speakers at the event including a stakeholder in Ihiala Local Government Area, Ichie Chimezie Nwankwo, the Headmaster of Uli Central School, Comrade Livinus Ndinojue and the Ihiala Constituency Officer, Lady Ucheoma Chukwudum, said that the donated materials were basic demands for educational viability of the schools.
