The Anambra State Police Command has paraded sixteen suspects for various crimes.

The suspects, who were paraded at the Police Command Headquarters, Awka, were arrested at different locations in the State for various crimes including, murder, rape, child trafficking, armed robbery, bag snatching among others.

The suspects, including Chukwuemeka Obijiofor, aged twenty-eight, from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo Local Government Area, allegedly killed his wife and only child with a shovel on the twenty-sixth of last Month while one Mrs Uju Uba, aged forty-two, was arrested for child trafficking and operating a baby factory in Oba Idemili South Local Government Area.

Another Suspect, Mr Linus Ajaba from Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area, aged sixty-eight was alleged to have defiled a nine year old girl, Chinecherem Odurukpe from Ihiala and an underaged boy.

Items recovered from the suspects include one berretta pistol, one locally made pistol and one shovel.

Parading the suspects, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang represented by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, reassured Ndi Anambra, that the Command will ensure that the status of Anambra as the safest State in Nigeria will not be cut short by the intents and activities of criminals.

Mr. Abang also encouraged people to be security conscious at all times and to report any strange observation or suspicious movements to the security agencies for prompt response.

Some of the arrested suspects, who spoke to newsmen, admitted to the crimes while some, however, denied the allegations .

The suspects, according to the police will be charged to court for prosecution.
