The newly coroneted traditional ruler of Abacha, Idemili North Council Area, Igwe Godwin Odiegwu has received traditional authority from all the villages that make-up community, qualifying him as the third Igwe.
His coronation followed the suspension and eventual withdrawal of certificate of recognition from the former traditional ruler, Engineer Godwin Mbakwe, by Anambra State Government, on the recommendation of Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that Ezumezu square in Abacha Community over the weekend went agog as representatives from all the villages took turn to endorse the ascension of Igwe Odiegwu on the throne.
The traditional Prime Minister of Abacha Community, Chief Paul Omofia, who performed the assigned traditional functions, urged the new Igwe to use his positions in restoring honour attached to the royal stool.
Addressing members of Abacha Community after his installation and libations, Igwe Odiegwu said, hinging on eleven points agenda, he and the President General of the community, Chief Ifeanyi Okeke-Obata, will among other things, establish Abacha Youth Trust Fund, for the purpose of addressing challenges facing youths in the area.
While calling on his subjects to help in addressing other challenges facing the community, Igwe Odiegwu promised to make the constitution of Abacha community a guiding principle, thanking the state government for its numerous supports aimed at achieving sustainable community development.
Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Projects, and Former President General of the community, Mr. Jeffery Ubah, who was appointed the interim Cabinet Secretary by the new Igwe, other members of the community, including former Ambassador of Nigeria to South Africa, Ambassador Mrs. Uche-Ajulu Okeke, Chiefs Jonas Okafor and Chris Onyekwelu, who were present at the event, lauded outlined agenda the Igwe Odiegwu has for Abacha community and called on members to give him the needed support.
