Community leaders have been charged to assist in educating the people on Road Safety measures, especially in the areas of over speeding and loading as well as dangerous overtaking which are the major causes of road accidents.
The Anambra State Sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps Mr Andrew Kumapayi gave the charge when he led the management team of the Corps on a courtesy call to the traditional ruler of Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area Igwe Rowland Odegbo in his palace.
Mr Kumapayi who described Road Safety as a collective responsibility called for more cooperation by the public to the Officers and Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps to enable them continue to discharge their duties effectively.
The Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps who during the visit charged the people especially the Motoring public to always obey all the COVID-19 protocols, reminding them that Anambra State government has set up mobile courts that will try violators of COVID-19 guidelines.
He called on the traditional ruler of Nteje to give him the opportunity to arrange a public enlightenment for the people of the area on Road Safety measures.
Responding Igwe Odegbo who thanked the Sector Commander of the Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps Mr Kumapanyi and his team for the visit promised a better working relationship between the people of Nteje and Federal Road Safety Corps.
