One hundred and eighty five thousand, two hundred and fifty four vulnerable households in Anambra State have so far benefited from the various federal governments social investments programme.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq made this known during the training of Independent monitors of the scheme in the State organized by the Ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners in Awka.

According to the Minister, the National Social Investment Scheme was created by President Muhammadu Buhari with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of Social interventions which include job creation programme, conditional cash transfer among others.

The Minister said that about thirteen million citizens across thirty six states of the federation and Abuja have benefited from the scheme, and urged the monitors to carry out their assignment with utmost diligence and sincerity.

The Anambra State focal person of the scheme, Mrs. Chinwe Iwuchukwu represented by Mr. Bede Okoli said that  many vulnerable Ndi Anambra have so far benefited from the various social intervention programmes of the federal government and assured that Anambra state government will continue to play her role to ensure that Ndi Anambra continue to benefit from the scheme.

The Director National Orientation Agency in Anambra State, Mr. Charles Nworji urged the independent monitors to be sincere and honest in discharging their duties in order to achieve the desired results.

Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that the monitors were trained on the etiquettes of their job by an expert.
