Anambra State Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, has apprehended two notorious women who  use  under age children to seek for alms.

The begging syndicates were apprehended at Unizik Temporary Site Junction, Awka.

The two women from Nasarawa and Enugu States, with six children, four girls and two boys, were among the beggars arrested at Nnewi and Awka, in December 2020, by a team led by the Commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue, who counseled and gave them food items and some cash to start a new life.

Lady Ndidi  in her efforts to ensure their successful reintegration into the society placed a call to her Nasarawa State counterpart, who promised to provide the woman with job and care for her children.

Unfortunately, after receiving assistance from Commissioner Mezue, these unrepentant offenders returned to Anambra State and continued with their nefarious activities, before luck ran out on them, leading to their re-arrest.

Consequently, Lady Ndidi in her magnanimity made a fresh arrangement to ensure these syndicates were duly rehabilitated before being returned to their home states to start a new life and be useful to themselves and the society.
