Living life according to the teachings of God has been described as the ultimate path to Salvation .
This emphasis came to the fore during the burial ceremony of late Mrs. Georgina Okonkwo-Ezughalu at Abacha, Idemili North local government area of Anambra state.
Kenechukwu Chukwudi who was at the burial ceremony reports that at a requiem Mass held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Abacha, in her honor, one of the officiating Priests, Reverend Father Frankline Okafor in his homily, urged Christians to live life according to God’s teachings and understand that life on earth is never permanent, urging them to walk in the ways of Christ which he said is the sure path to heaven.
According to the son of the deceased, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okonkwo-Ezughalu, his mother was a strong woman even though she suffered stroke for about twenty two years, she still lived up to her motherly responsibilities and was also dedicated to her spiritual life through her Church activities, while patience was a virtue she exemplified.
In his remark another son of the deceased, Mr. Vincent Okonkwo-Ezughalu who expressed pain over the demise of his mother said honesty is a virtue he learnt from her, as anyone who wants to make heaven must be truthful and avoid sin while her daughter, Oge Okonkwo noted that her mother was a humble hardworking woman and a leader whom she always confides in for advice.
Some mourners at the event, including the former President General of Abacha Development Union Mr. Emeka Okelo and Mr. Godwin Oguejiofor commiserated with the family and charged them to take solace in the good life their mother lived and keep her enduring legacies.
Late Mrs. Georgina died at the age of eighty six years.
Condolence visits including that of the traditional ruler of Abacha and his cabinet members , Igwe Godwin Odiegwu, masquerade displays and dance by different women groups featured at the burial ceremony.
