Bishop Dr. Arthur Nwachukwunyelu Nwachukwu was born 78 years ago in February 1942 to the family of Godwin and Christian Nwachukwu. He was called and separated early in life to be a leader, father and breadwinner that came to fore with the name his father gave him as Nwachukwunyelu, a first born name that later metamorphosed into the flagship for which the former Nweke family was known before their believers’ stance to change to Nwachukwu, which the linage bear today.

Arthur attended Saint Gabriel’s Primary School, Umueri. Later, he proceeded to be a teacher and catechist at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church and a teacher at Saint Francis Primary School, Ikem Nando. He left for further studies with scholarship, later joined the Ministry of Agriculture in Eastern Nigeria.

During the war, Arthur changed the typical experiences of Biafran solider which he voluntarily conscripted into. He fought gallantly, which got him a nick name of the “Golden Boy”.
After a terrible loss of all his earning through a fraudulent job advert that short-changed him of his life earnings after the war, he went back to the Ministry of Agriculture at Nkwelle.

He later got employed as special constable in traffic control with the Nigerian Police in Onitsha, until 1975 when he was transferred to Ihiala. As a man full of wisdom, Arthur got admission into the University of Nigeria. Nsukka. It was during this period of studies that he encountered Christ and became born again.

He became ill and was at the point of death, just before he graduated from university. However, his younger brother, now Bishop Paul Nwachukwu Senior, prayed and preached to him to receive Christ as his Lord and personal saviour, which he did. Remarkably, it was Bishop Arthur who saved and recovered his brother, Paul, when he was forcefully conscripted into the Biafran army and secured his release from the Biafran camp. God used the brothers to save each other at critical points of their lives.

Arthur promised that if God healed him of the diabetic complications that was killing him, he would serve God all the days of his life. God honoured this words, healed and spared Arthur’s life and true to his promise, he served the Lord with his family fervently and God being faithful all the way.

Arthur Nwachukwu graduated in 1986 with flying colours and became the revenue officer of Abakiliki LGA. He became a vibrant member of the Full Gospel of Business Men Fellowship and rose to become the Vice Chairman in Abakaliki chapter.  He received the call of God at Abakaliki but resisted a bit. So many things started going wrong for him in civil service.

He answered the call of God, resigning voluntarily in 1992 to work for God. He rose and built a large Cathedral on a hill top. The cathedral, Rhema Deliverance Ministry Worldwide, was dedicated by one of his spiritual mentors, the Late ArchBishop Benson Idahosa.

With Rhema TV/Oracle TV beaming over 112 nations of the world daily, and exposing and delivering viewers from the kingdom of darkness to the shining light of our saviour Jesus Christ, Rhema has helped in the advancement of the kingdom of God. What a fulfilled blessed life in Christ, an honour no man can give to himself. He came, saw and conquered new grounds for Christ.

His passion for social responsibility was well demonstrated. Firstly, the ABS radio program he conducted every Tuesday helped find deliverance and succor in Christ. He also constantly graded the road to the temporary NYSC camp at Umunya for over 20 years. Bishop Arthur Nwachukwu’s annual unity cup among Umunya indigenes is a testament of his disposition for peace and unity.

He is survived by Rev.
