On Sunday, March 7, 2021, the Chairman and Managing Director, G.I. Okafor and Sons Limited, makers of Winco Foam, Dr. Godwin Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, will be seventy-one years old.
For one to attain the age of 71, calls for thanksgiving and celebration. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no celebration for the birthday. This is because Dr. Godwin Okafor is one of the proponents of COVID-19 Safety protocols, including avoidance of gathering of more than thirty persons.
Dr. Godwin Okafor, born on March 7, 1950 at Isuofia in Aguata local government, attended Saint’s Patrick’s Primary School, Isuofia, and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He also obtained G.C.E O’ level before going into business.
Dr. Okafor established Winco Foam in 1979, and incorporated the Company in 1983, with the sole aim of producing quality mattresses and pillows. Today, Winco foam has become a household name in many homes, schools, hotels and organizations.

During the 2012 flood disaster, he donated relief materials to some states, including Anambra.
For this and his art of philanthropy, the people of Ndiokolo, in Orumba North conferred on him a chieftaincy title of Ochiliozua. He is married to Chief Mercy from Ekwulobia, a woman with humane disposition, and the marriage is blessed with children.
