The latest data from the Nigerian Stock Exchange says the foreign portfolio investors sold Nigerian stocks valued at thirty point seven-nine billion naira in the first month of this year.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange data also showed that the foreign inflows into the stock market stood at sixteen point seven-three billion naira in January.

Foreign portfolio investment outflow includes sales transactions or liquidation of portfolio investments through the stock Market, while the foreign portfolio investment inflow includes purchase transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange equities only.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, in its latest domestic and foreign portfolio investment report, said that a total transactions at the nation’s bourse decreased by thirteen point six-six  per cent from two hundred and sixty-nine point two-four billion naira in December 2020 to two hundred and thirty-two point four-six billion naira in January 2021.

It said that in January, the total value of transactions executed by domestic investors outperformed transactions executed by foreign investors by about sixty percent.
