An interdenominational prayer has been organized by the new leadership of Anambra state Association of Town Unions, ASATU.

 

The prayer session which attracted members of the union at their headquarters, Government House Awka, also featured distribution of food items to three Correctional Centers in three Senatorial Districts of the state.

 

The items include cartoons of Noodles, bags of rice, cartons of cabin biscuits, tubers of yam, gallons of vegetable oil and toiletries.

 

In a speech, the National President of ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo said that as new executive, it is important to start with God for him to help in piloting the affairs of the union adding that prayer is vital as their positions need wisdom and strength of God.

 

Barrister Akpudo noted that soon, they will embark on conflict resolution meeting with all Communities that are having issues with their town union executives to ensure that peace, Progress, tranquility and development set in, in all the communities of the state.

 

Earlier in a sermon during the prayer session, Reverend Canon Josiah Ozue who is the President General of Mbaukwu Community dealt on the topic “prayer and worship, a weapon of war fare” and charged the Presidents General not to be afraid of challenges , noting that since they started with Christ, He will continue to lead, protect and preserve them.

 

He advised that they should discharge their duties without fear or favour rather to achieve the sole aim of electing them to the position which is to champion peace and unity in their various communities.

 

In their separate speeches, the national Vice President of the Union, Professor Charles Nwadigwe and the President General of Adazi-Enu, Sir Levi Okpalaeke noted that indeed, Barrister Akpudo has started on a solid ground by channeling all the activities of the union to God pledging their total support to make the union more vibrant.

On his part, the President General of Nkpor Community, Chief Innocent Mbaagha, maintained that having started with God, He will guide and lead them to  the right part as their various communities look up to them as their ambassadors, advising the National President, Barrister Akpudo to have a listening ear, embrace any idea that will move the union forward.

 

While sensitising the group on the recruitment of Ndi Anambra into Nigerian Army, the State Recruitment Officer, Major Enye Samson stated that about one hundred and fifty candidates from Anambra have joined the Force , charging the group to disseminate the information to their communities for others to key in.

 

Reverend Father Blaze Ejike gave benedictions during the program, asking God to take control and keep the President General safe even as monthly meetings featured at the programm.
