In determination to sustain campaign against drug abuse, cultism, prostitution and child trafficking, Ike Uke Foundation in conjunction with Anambra State Post – Primary School Service Commission have organised a quiz competition for public secondary school students within Idemili North and South Council Areas.

The Ike Uke Foundation is a non- governmental organization rendering humanitarian services to communities by providing soft loans and grants to students, youths, and widows with genuine business proposals to help them achieve their goals and attain self sufficiency.

The competition held at Idemili North headquarters, had in attendance officials from the Post Primary School Service Commission, students from ten public schools in Idemili North and South council areas , parents and teachers.

Addressing the students on the effects of prostitution, cultism, drug abuse and human trafficking in South East the Founder Ike Uke Foundation, Sir Victor Okolo, regretted that many students have deviated from their academics to engaging in various nefarious activities.

Urging students to focus more on their academics, Sir Victor explained that the quiz competition was to rekindle the spirit of academic excellence and healthy competition among youths by motivating, encouraging and rewarding the scholarship spirit in them as well as inculcate the principles of teamwork and hardwork..

In an address titled, “the importance of good moral upbringing in shaping the future of the society”, the Anambra State Deputy Director, National Orientation Agency, Sir Joseph Uchendu, warned the students to desist from anything that will truncate their future.

The ten schools both in art and science classes held the audience spellbound with their great performances and at the end of the day, Girls Secondary School Awka-Etiti, emerged the overall winner of the competition; while Saint John Special Science Technical College Alor and Archbishop Henry Technical College Ogidi clinched the second and third positions respectively.

Speaking later, the overall winner, Miss Ebube Ezedinihu from Girls Secondary School, Awka-Etiti, who said she felt overwhelmed over the victory, encouraged other students to continue striving hard towards excellence.

The first position went home with fifty thousand naira prize money , the second position received fifty thousand naira and the third position went home with thirty thousand naira.
