Knights and Lady Knights of St Christopher, Diocese on the Niger, have elected new officers to pilot the affairs of the Order for the next three years.
Both the Knights and Lady Knights had their individual elections at the same venue but with the Knights conducting first.
Correspondent, Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the elections, which were peacefully conducted at the Knights’ Abbey, Ozzala Road, Onitsha, produced Sir Ikechukwu Ejelue as the President, Sir Simon Omekodinma, first Deputy President, Dr. Jide Onyekwelu, Second Deputy President, Sir Clem Nwoye, Secretary and Sir Oselloka Offoh, Public Relations Officer.
Other officers are Barrister Jonathan Egonu, Assistant Secretary, Dr. Emma Ibeneme, Treasurer, Sir Okezue Ekpe, Financial Secretary and Sir Sunday Okonkwo as the Assistant Financial Secretary.
The rest include Sir Bob Onyeka, Welfare Officer and Sir Chuka Nwanna, Assistant Welfare Officer.
For the Lady Knights, Dr. Ngozi Agbasimalo was returned as the President, Dr. May Obiokoye, first Deputy President, Lady Ada Nweke, Second Deputy President, Lady Joy Egonu, Secretary and Lady Jessy Obicheta, Assistant Secretary among other officers.
In his acceptance speech, the Knights President, Sir Ikechukwu, thanked the Bishop, Right Reverend Dr. Owen Nwokolo and his wife, Dr. Elsie and the entire members of the Order for giving them the opportunity to serve in their various capacities even as he solicited the cooperation of the members for greater achievements.
On her part, the Lady President, Dr. Agbasimalo highlighted the efforts of the Lady Knights towards taking the Order to the next level.
Earlier in his valedictory address, the outgone President, Barrister Ben Uzuegbu, reeled out a catalogue of what his regime achieved including, the clearing of inherited donations and pledges to the Diocese and the Women Ministry as well as revving up the spiritual tempo of the Order.
The Returning Officers, Venerable Dr. Emma Ezeugo and Venerable Nathan Muonyelu commended the members and prayed for the success of the new executive.
