The member representing Anambra West Constituency at the State House of Assembly Honourable Patrick Udeoba has advised community members to take charge of the projects built in their areas by the state government.
Honourable Udoba made the call during a one day stakeholders meeting organized by Ministry of Public Utilities in partnership with a non governmental organisation in Awka to enlighten participants on the importance of Community Projects Monitoring.
Hon Udeoba explained that it is the duty of community members to know and take control of their basic amenities noting that if such is properly done it will encourage the government and it’s representatives to provide more interventions.
The Executive Director of the non governmental organisation ,Mrs Onyeka Okey-Udegbunam noted that the meeting is mainly for the pilot communities where public utilities are not properly monitored calling on participants to step down the information garrned and restrategize on how best to monitor the facilities built in their various communities.
She equally called on Presidents General and Women leaders of various communities to also take ownership of government projects in their areas and monitor their use and preservation for the welfare of the society.
Others who spoke during the stakeholders meeting including, Mrs Uzoma Uzo and the Director of Works Awka North Local Government Area of the state Engr Augustine Emeka charged the representatives of the various communities to be caretakers of their community projects and be accurate in data provision to improve the well being of all communities through evidence based decision making and effective collaborations.
The communities who were the focal point of the meeting were Awka North and Anambra West.
A monitoring team which will be responsible for community projects reportage and data collection was also inaugurated at the meeting.
