The Anglican Bishop Diocese of Niger West, the Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe has called on leaders at all levels to emulate the sacrificial and servant leadership lifestyle of Jesus Christ.
Bishop Ekwe who made the call while delivering his Easter message at the Cathedral Church of St. Gabriel Umueri, Anambra East Council Area maintained that a leader is made to be a servant to the people he is leading, advising them to serve humanity with the love of God.
The prelate regretted the high rate of killings, kidnapping and raping in the country and urged the federal government not to pay lip service to the issue of insecurity in Nigeria, saying that the primary responsibility of any government is security of life and prosperity of the citizenry as well as their welfare.
Bishop Ekwe stated that the essence of Christian faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which he said restored hope to man and brought reconciliation, salvation, forgiveness of sins and joy saying that anyone who repents and believes in Christ enjoys these privileges.
On his part, the new Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN Anambra state chapter, Venerable Joseph Nweke said that the celebration reminds Christians of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, noting that without the resurrection of Christ, Christian faith is in vain.
Venerable Nweke who is the Archdeacon of Inland Town Archdeaconry noted that the blood of Jesus on the cross brings salvation to man, describing Jesus as the Passover lamb that takes away the sins of man, assuring that anyone in Christ has victory over adversaries and called for sober reflection and total repentance.
