Active service of Reverend Canon Patrick Udealor Okoye in the Anglican Communion has come to a glorious end with a thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of Saint Michael, Umuikwu Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area of Anambra State.
During his service in the Church, Reverend Canon Okoye worked at Saint Peter’s Abagana, Saint Andrew’s Onitsha, Saint Mary’s Awka-Etiti, Saint Gabriel’s Umueri, Saint Thomas Oba, Saint Michael’s Umudioka, Saint Mary’s Ukpo, and retired in sound health at Saint Andrew’s Ifitedunu.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that in his sermon during the Church service, the Bishop of Afikpo Diocese, Bishop Paul Udeogu, reminded Christians that thanking God for His blessings attracts more, and recalled that the celebrant answered priestly call when it was seemingly difficult, given predominant religious practice in his area.
He thanked Reverend Canon Okoye’s family, community, friends and well-wishers for supporting him to succeed in God’s ministry, even as he called on Christians to sustain prayers for divine solutions to insecurity and other challenges facing the nation.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra West Local Government Area, Honourable Sylvester Okafor, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Project Monitoring, Honourable Charles Nchezo, and the National Coordinator of Soludo Support Group, Honourable Chinedu Nwoye, represented by Evangelist Chukwudilim Chiadikobi, commended Reverend Canon Okoye for celebrating God’s blessings on him.
In separate remarks, the celebrant, Reverend Canon Okoye, and his wife, Honourable Theresa, who is the National Woman Leader of Soludo Support Group, counted their family among God’s favoured, and thanked all who came to share in their joy.
Reverend Canon Okoye, who regretted neo-paganism in the society, reminded youths that serving God is the best way to enjoy life on earth and be sure of eternal life.
The Church service attended by many Anglican clergy, including His Grace, Right Reverend Maxwell Anikwenwa, and the Bishop of Mbamili Diocese, His Lordship, the Right Reverend Bernard Uzochukwu, featured special musical presentations by the Choir, children and grandchildren of the celebrant, as well as unveiling of book authored by Reverend Canon Okoye.
