It was a celebration of life and legacy as the remains of late Mrs. Florence Onukwube Akabuike, were laid to rest in her husband’s compound at Umudunu Agbiligba Nanka, Orumba North Local Government Area.

The burial ceremony attracted family members, friends, associates, the clergy, religious, political appointees and government officials among others.

Correspondent, Queen Anigbogu reports that Late Mrs. Akabuike, ninety-three years, was the mother of the Chief Medical Director, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku Awka, and the former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike.

In his homily during the burial mass at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church Nanka, the Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, described the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the most important festivity in Christianity.

While thanking God for granting late Mrs. Akabuike longevity, Most Reverend Ezeokafor noted that all humans are on pilgrimage on earth and must one day return to their creator, and charged Christians to strive to live righteous life  at all times.

In an interview, the former  Senator that represented Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Victor Umeh, affirmed that the deceased was a faithful Christian till the time of her demise.

In his comments, Dr. Akabuike, said that his mother was never old in spite of dying at ninety-three and that she will be sorely missed.

In their separate remarks, the first and last sons, Chief Donatus and Mr. Collins Akabuike respectively, spoke glowingly about their mother and prayed God to bless and grant journey mercies to all their guests.

Also speaking, one of the grand-daughters, Lady Nneka Akabueze, said she has a close relationship with her grandmother, whom she testified, appreciated whatever she gave her.

Dignitaries that attended the ceremony included Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Principal Secretary, Sir Willie Nwokoye, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, MD, ACTDA, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, and the SSA to the Governor on Herbal Medicine, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim among others.

Interment, funeral oration at the graveside by Chioma Akabuike, condolence visits and dances featured during the event.
