Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Kuryas has condemned unprofessional conduct and extortionist tendencies amongst some Police personnel in the command.
A statement signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu said the Commissioner has vowed to prosecute any police officer found culpable.
According to the statement, the CP was reacting to a petition alleging the extortion of five hundred thousand naira from a citizen by some men of the command.
It explained that investigations, ordered by the CP into the case led to the swift identification and arrest of the personals and the five hundred thousand naira recovered intact and returned to the.
The statement also disclosed that the officers have been charged with misconduct in line with extant disciplinary procedure of the force.
While restating his resolve to stamp out extortionist tendencies amongst some personnel of the Command, the CP urged citizens to report any misconduct or whatsoever by personnel of the command to him through the ’X’ Squad or the Public Complaints Bureau, PCB, or call 112, 07039194332 or 08039334002 assuring utmost confidentiality of information conveyed through these channels.
