Stakeholders in Southeast have been urged to support various governments in the zone to tackle emerging challenges of insecurity.

Speaking in Awka, the Vice President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwide Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said security of life and property remains the collective responsibility of both the government and the people.

Our man Paul Ezeoke reports that court Okeke -Ogene called on the Federal Government to take more proactive measures to eliminate the increasing menace of herdsmen, bandits and armed robbers terrorizing parts of the country on daily basis and lamented that this has somehow spilled  over to Southeast region and Anambra state which has enjoyed peaceful and stable environment for many years .

He warned of the grave danger of orchestrating crime and violence or playing politics with lives of the people and future of the country.

The Vice President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo worldwideChief Okeke-Ogene commended Southeast Governors for setting up joint security network Ebubeagu which he noted would effectively harness and harmonize already existing security structures in various southeast states.

Chief Okeke urged communities in the region to provide timely and useful information to security agencies to enable them flush out criminals from the zone while security agencies should also expand scope of their intelligence gathering machinery to enhance efficiency in crime fighting.

While commending Governor Obiano for his commitment in securing lives and property, urged him remain resolute in using his security apparatus to tackle the new challenges.

Also speaking a community leader Chief Joseph Udeh enjoined residents of the state to remain security conscious and report any suspicious movements and individuals to security agencies.

Chief Udeh urged landlords to investigate prospective tenants properly before giving them accommodation.
