Gone are the days when motorists waste ample time along Amawbia By- pass due to traffic jam as they now move freely without any cause for alarm.

Works correspondent, Ngozi Obileri, who sampled opinion of people on the development reports that it was a nightmare for people to drive through Amawbia by pass especially during festive periods.

But for some weeks now, movement in and out of the town has become seamless due to the construction of many feeder roads within the community by Anambra State Government.

Some of the feeder roads are Okongwu-Aka Street, Umueze Village through old NYSC state Secretariat Amawbia to Ugwu Tank axis of the old Enugu-Onitsha road and three other adjoining roads.

A visit by the ABS to the roads was met with influx of vehicles as free flow of traffic made the journey easy for commuters.

Reacting to the development, the Principal Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Sir Willie Nwokoye unveiled that the people of the community are extremely happy and appreciative of the governor for fulfilling his promise of opening up internal roads in communities within the capital territory, adding that the roads have in no small measure, alleviated the plight users.

Sir Willie noted that people no longer have any reason to get to traffic light since the roads are alternative routes and appealed to the governor to also consider completing the already awarded Ngene Village Road Amawbia to Works Road and the Amawbia Community Secondary School Road to Nise-Agulu Road as it will relieve those going to Aguata from Enugwu-Ukwu- Abagana and Nawfia among others. Also speaking, the state Head of Service, Mr. Harry Uduh, noted that the development has improved business activities in the area as people now trade in front of their houses as well as board vehicles straight to their homes.

The traditional ruler of the community, Okpalaigwe Nworah Molokwu, who appreciated the governor for remembering his town, said many administrations have come and gone but none remembered the area, praying God to bless him.

The Commissioner for works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor explained that work will soon commence on all awarded feeder roads within the Awka Capital Territory and Onitsha while new ones will be inaugurated as promised by Governor Obiano, expressing happiness that the roads are of great benefit to the users.

Some road user, who spoke to the ABS, including Mrs. Ojiugo Ojukwu, Master Nonso Ikere and Mr. Christian Okechukwu, commended the state government for the development especially now that some roads in Amawbia are blocked for security reasons.
