The Traditional ruler of Umueri, in Anambra East Local Government Area, Igwe Benneth Emeka said the construction of Anambra International Cargo and Passengers Airport at Umueri by the State Government has written the name of the community and the State in the world map.

Igwe Emeka made the assertion while speaking with the ABS on the readiness of the community to welcome the world to the test running of the airport, where two flights  will land for the first time on Friday, describing it as a thing of joy for Umueri people.

Igwe Emeka commended Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts and commitment in ensuring the completion of the airport project, which he described as a giant stride by the present administration.

The Umueri monarch thanked the people of the community for releasing land to the State Government for the project, which he said will create job opportunities for people of the host and neighbouring communities, as well as the entire State.

The Royal father noted that the airport project will boost the State’s Internally Generated Revenue, open business opportunities for all and sundry, and bring more development to Umueri and Anambra State.

Igwe Emeka disclosed that Umueri people are ready to roll out drums in appreciation to Governor Obiano-led administration during the test running ceremony of the legacy project tomorrow.
