Setback in academic activities is now facing polytechnic students across the nation.

This is as a result of the nationwide indefinite strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP.

Based on this, students have expressed their dismay calling on the federal government to dialogue with ASUP and proffer lasting solutions to the demands of the union.

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata, who spoke with some students across various Polytechnics reports that Nigerian students are yet to recover from the devastating effects of the COVID-19 lockdown that suspended academic activities for ten months.

The indefinite strike action will be a thick time bomb for not only  the students but will also destabilize the already disrupted academic calendar of various Polytechnics.

However, students are saddened with the lingering strike and appealed on the government to come to their aid, as they are tired of staying at home.

Reacting, a final year student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Mr. Emmanuel Arinze maintained that if the strike is not called off soon, the year 2021 will be a wasted year for them just like year 2020.

Another student of the institution, Mr. Charles Nwoye, who, expressed sadness over the strike that marred his graduation just one month before its commencement,  expressed worry  that prolonging it  may lead many students to regrets and restiveness.

In a telephone conversation with a student of Auchi Polytechnic, Mr. Samson Iniobong said the effects of staying at home as a result of the strike action should be the government concern, complaining that their landlords will not take it likely with them as soon as they year ends.

An ND Two student of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Miss Amarachi Anyawu, wailed that most of her mates in the universities are freely studying and graduating without hindrance and pleaded with the Federal Government to take positive action.
