Southeast Governors have been urged to adopt Governor Willie Obiano’s youth empowerment initiatives in order to reduce the burden of crime and social vices in the society.
Speaking in Awka, the National Chairman of Willie Obiano Support Group, Chief Jude Emecheta said the adoption the initiatives would encourage youths in the region to engage in productive ventures and contribute in rebuilding national and State economies.

Chief Emecheta noted that such initiatives would equip youths with necessary knowledge and skills to become self-reliant and create job opportunities for others.
He recalled that Governor Obiano’s administration through the “One Youth One Skill,” Agricultural and Digital Entrepreneurship Empowerment Programmes, has not only provided the youths with knowledge and skills, but has equally provided them with funds and other logistics to set up their own businesses, while many others have also received loan facilities from Anambra State Small Business Agency, ASBA, to actualize their aspirations.
He explained that some of the youths now have the skills and capacity to develop softwares and other digital inputs that if well harnessed, would help the country tackle some of its challenges, while those in various agricultural value chain have the potential to assist the country achieve food security, increase export capacity and improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product GDP.
Chief Emecheta called on the Federal Government to take more proactive measures to boost power supply in the country to enable youths use their electronic devices and gadgets to explore and discover new body of knowledge, as well as increase creativity that will enable them provide permanent solution to the challenges of unemployment and eliminate tendencies towards crime and violence.
He urged the political class to avoid acts capable of overheating the polity, while calling on APGA members to maintain unity of purpose to achieve set goals.
Also speaking, an APGA Chieftain, Chief Henry Igboeli said Governor Obiano’s administration has scaled up tempo of good governance through programmes that impact directly on the lives of the people and projects that would also benefit future generations.
Chief Igboeli reminded people of the State of the need to consolidate on present achievements and sustain legacy of good governance by supporting a candidate with requisite experience and vision to further reposition the State.
