Governor Willie Obiano has called on Nigerian leaders to have a change of mindset, in order to guarantee total transformation of the country’s economy.

 

The Governor made the call during the valedictory lecture, festschrift and compendium presentation and send-forth ceremony in honour  of the President and Chairman of Council, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, Reverend Canon Professor Ben Osisioma held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Auditorium, Awka.

 

Governor Obiano, who was represented by his, Deputy Dr. Nkem Okeke, emphasized the need for collective efforts towards reshaping Nigeria into a better country that will favour all,  pointing out that such can only be achieved through personal determination to effect a positive changes anywhere one finds self.

He asked leaders at all levels to try to use their positions to impact lives positively, reminding all that leadership positions are transient.

 

In a remark, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Charles Esimone, described Professor Osisioma as a great scholar, who has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the institution, saying that though retired, he is still relevant nationally and internationally.

 

In his presentation titled “Ethics and Values in Professional Leadership: a Convergence of Accounting and Faith”, Professor Osisioma identified unethical leadership style as the problem of the nation, and posited that if leaders at all levels will learn to stick to professional ethics, there will be an all-round transformation in the country’s economy.

Present at the event were former Minister for Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Anglican Diocese, Right Reverend Alexander Ibezim, among others.
