Awka Anglican Diocese has commended the Willie Obiano administration for seeing to the fulfillment of its promise to deliver a world class Airport to the state, a desire that has been the dream of the citizen since the creation of the state close to thirty years ago.
The commendation, contained in a communiqué issued by the Diocese at the end of its second session of the twelfth Synod, at St Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church Nawfia, noted the huge socio-economic effects of the Airport to Anambra State, the South East and Nigeria in general.
The communiqué, signed by the Clerical Synod Secretary of the Diocese, Venerable Clement Mgbemena said the Synod, presided over by the Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. Alexander Ibezim frowned at the worsening level of insecurity in the country, which has thrown up “multilayered existential consequences.”
The Synod therefore called on Federal and State Governments to sincerely seek the underlying causes of insecurity in Nigeria and devise honest short and long term strategies to restore peace in the country.
It also directed all the Churches in the diocese to intensify prayers to seek God’s intervention to resolving insecurity in Nigeria.
The Awka Diocesan Synod also noted with dismay the unfortunate third wave of COVID-19 pandemic in different countries of the globe and asked its churches to ensure all standard prevention protocols are observed in all services and events of the diocese.
