Members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, across the country  held a one day prayer session to seek God’s intervention in the  the various challenges facing Nigeria.

To join their counterparts across the country, members of the Anambra state Chapter of the Association converged on the Anambra Broadcasting Service ABS Awka for the event.

The women on their red attire knelt before the Lord and pleaded for God’s mercy and healing upon Nigeria.

Speaking during the prayer program, the chairperson NAWOJ Anambra state Comrade Franklin Onyekachi said they are seeking God’s intervention on the growing insecurity, killings, kidnapping among others in Nigeria, to raise awareness on the dangers thereof and mobilize stakeholders support to address the issue as the women are not comfortable with the situation in Nigeria.

Comrade Onyekachi noted that for the past seven years, residents of Anambra have been enjoying peace and maximum security, sleeping with their two eyes closed and but regretted that bloodletting and violence have distorted the peaceful and serene environment in the state ,calling on the perpetrators of the dastardly act to retrace  their steps for the good of all.

The women also during the prayer session lifted the South East Region before God and took time to pray for Anambra state, especially for the forthcoming governorship election, Anambra Broadcasting Service and families.

They later carried play cards to express their feelings over what is happening in Nigeria, with the inscriptions “Oh God heal our land”. “we want peace”, “don’t make us widows”, “stop killing our children”, “Oh God show us mercy and forgive our sin” among others
