The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Simeon Onyemaechi says Ndi Anambra and other residents of the State can now register and pay insurance premium electronically.
Dr. Onyemaechi made this known while speaking to newsmen in Awka.
Health correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye reports that  the Executive Secretary who said by dialing *1070*1#, on any GSM network, one can successfully enroll into the scheme with ease, and described the innovation as part of Governor Willie Obiano’s vision and mission in the State health sector.
Dr. Onyemaechi said that the World Health Organization and European Union, Nigeria office supported the agency to achieve the latest innovation, having seen the success story of ASHIA.
The ASHIA boss who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on health, maintained that the latest innovation will enhance access to healthcare delivery, without financial barriers as potential subscribers can stay anywhere to register for the scheme.
The Executive Secretary further revealed that the agency has already registered over one hundred and fifteen thousand People from formal and informal sector into the scheme, and revealed that the Agency has equally powered Onitsha General Hospital, Enugwu-Ukwu General Hospital, Ekwulobia General Hospital, Umueri General Hospital and Okija General Hospital with Solar power lights to enhance efficiency in services.
One can register into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme by paying one thousand naira monthly or twelve thousand naira yearly premium, and can as well call their twenty four hours customer care service numbers:Â Â 08059304487 or 08021810222.
