The maiden edition of “Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation Conference” organised by Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, NOCEN, has ended with a call on participants to embrace opportunities in digital innovations to improve the living conditions of people.
The Conference, aimed at creating awareness on School of Entrepreneurship and Digital Innovation, SEDI, programmes among staff and students of the college, as well as Anambra youths, gathered renowned ICT Experts, innovators, Tech Start-ups and entrepreneurs who helped to, among other things, teach participants how digital innovations affect the structuring of markets and business models, as well as how to implement and finance them.
In his keynote speech at the Conference, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra ICT Agency, Mr Theo Manafa, observed that the growth of technology and innovations in the field offer new possibilities for growing labour forces, in terms of competing and surviving the new industrial revolution, creating employment and building entrepreneurship.
He noted that the State government’s permissive disposition to ICT revolution necessitated the moves to provide enabling digital infrastructure to connect towns and cities, schools, hospitals, businesses and governance online for seamless step into the future.
Director-General, SEDI, NOCEN, Engineer Nkem Orakwe, who explained that all academic programmes in SEDI are designed to equip Tech Start-ups and people interested in doing own businesses, with visibility online, noted that partnership with local and foreign organisations gives competitive advantage to NOCEN SEDI, even as he thanked the State government for promoting entrepreneurship and digital innovations, and called for its sustenance.
Earlier in their remarks, the Provost, Dr Ifeyinwa Osegbo, and the Chairman, Governing Council of the College, Chief Cletus Ibeto, represented by Honourable Eze Echesi, who explained that the idea to start SEDI in the institution came years back, owing to importance of digital innovations in today’s society, urged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity to become wealth creators.
Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that guests at the event, which featured enrollments into SEDI programmes and display of online marketing platform, “NOCENSTORE”, include the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Sally Mbanefo, represented by Engineer Dr. Florence Idigo, her Ministry of Agriculture counterpart, Chief Nnamdi Onukwuba, represented by Mrs Ifeyinwa Onwudinjo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Small Business Agency, ASBA, Sir Clem Chukwuka, as well as the Country Director of Rome Business School, Nigeria, Dr. Humphrey Akanazu.
