Youth leaders from various communities, zones and organizations have convened at the Ministry of Youth Conference Hall Awka, to discuss matters impacting youth development in Anambra State, in preparation for the upcoming 2021 International Youth Day celebration.

 

Onyinye Agubaeze reports that the youth connect program, is part of the Anambra State’s International Youth Day celebration activities, which holds twelfth August every year and aims to engage youth leaders in proactive dialogue with their peers from other youth organizations and communities.

Speaking on the significance of the program, the Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Professor Theresa Obiekezie said that the meeting seeks to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of youth leaders in leading Anambra youths, which will have a positive impact on the lives of the youths and the society at large.

 

Professor Obiekezie lauded Governor  Willie Obiano’s administration in involving youths in the state’s governance process, while noting that youth empowerment is a  reponsibility of government and the people.

 

The Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Samuel Egwuatu, while thanking the commissioner for the platform of interaction, stated that youth leaders have been entrusted with the task of leading youths to greater heights and advised them to avoid being used as election hoodlums to commit election fraud during the upcoming Anambra Governorship election.

 

Speaking on the characteristics of a leader, a resource person and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Services, Comrade Nwabufo Nwankwo, said that a leader should be ready to serve the society well at all times
