The Anambra State Government says it has put a mechanism in place to arrest the erection of unapproved building plan to forestall building collapse.

The chairman, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Mr. Chike Maduekwe disclosed this when the board appeared before the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation to defend its 2021 budget.

Mr. Maduekwe explained that the measures will enable the board to figure out agencies that connive with quacks to engage in building development without following due process.

He called on members of the public to always be willing to forward the names of staff of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board that encourage quacks to his office for disciplinary actions.

Mr. Maduekwe warned developers, who indulge in unprofessional misconduct by using quacks for building development to retrace their steps, as anyone caught will face the full wrath of the law.

In his remark, the chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Obinna Emeneka commended the board for generating huge revenue this year with meager resources and charged them to do more in 2022, even as he maintained that the meeting was to assess the performance of the board with respect to their 2021 budget.

Similarly, the chairman, Anambra State Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Peter Egenti and key officers of the commission, appeared before the committee and defended the projects they executed with their 2021 budget.

Dr. Egenti informed them that the commission trained many local government staff, promoted those that were due for promotion as well as monitored the activities of local government councils.
