The Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze has asked all the government Ministries coming for the verification of their 2020 audited accounts to keep their records straight.

Sir Somtochukwu made the call when the key officers of the Ministry of Works appeared before the committee for the verification of their audited 2020 financial transactions.

House of Assembly correspondent Chukwuemeka Muodilim reports that the lawmaker explained that the exercise is part of the cardinal responsibilities of the Anambra State House of Assembly aimed at encouraging accountability, transparency and due process in the management of public funds.

Sir Somtochukwu commended the Ministry for ensuring that quality jobs were executed at the Anambra State International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area International Conference Centre Awka as well as maintenance of roads within the Awka capital.

On his part, the Commissioner for Works, Mr. Marcel Ifejiofor gave an assurance that every ongoing road project will be completed before the end of the Obiano administration, as Governor Obiano is committed to finishing strong.

Similarly, the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa and key officers of the Agency appeared before the committee and defended their audited account for the year under review.

Venerable Okwuosa explained that in 2020, the agency, desilted drainages in the area to keep the territory free from flooding, adding that the agency is committed to making Awka capital territory a world class city.
