The Member representing Njikoka Constituency two in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Pete Ibida, has described the operation Light up Anambra as one of the best legacy projects of Governor Willie Obiano.
Dr Ibida who spoke on ABS Radio interactive programme that discussed the sustainability of the street light in Anambra State, said that the project has enhanced commercial activities especially at night, thereby raising the standards of living of the people, which has added value to the State economy, urging Anambra residents to vote in a Governor that will sustain the legacy projects of the Obiano administration.
Dr Ibida, who is also the Chairman House Committee on local government and Chieftaincy matters, said that the State House of Assembly has made a legislative template, empowering the State vigilante operatives to arrest anyone vandalizing government infrastructure.
Contributing, another guest on the programme, who is a Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Public Utilities, Mr Dozie Akunne, commended Governor Obiano for the street light project which has impacted positively on the people, adding that the multidimensional project among other things has returned night life to the State.
Mr Akunne who is also the Chairman Anambra State Public Utilities Monitoring Committee, appealed to communities to take full ownership of the street lights and other infrastructure in their communities and protect them against vandalization.
He advised network providers to always liaise with the Ministry of public Utilities for guidance before laying their underground network equipment, to avoid destroying street light cables.
One of the callers on the programme Chinwe Akpulue, from Nnobi, commended the Anambra State government for the street light project which she noted has illuminated the State.
