The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C Don Adinuba has urged information officers in his Ministry to rededicate themselves to their work in line with their mandate of publicizing government activities.
Speaking during a meeting with Staff of the Ministry at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat complex in Awka, Mr Adinuba reminded them that the public rely on the Ministry for information about Government activities and stressed that it is part of their duties to engage in regular news writing and to inform Government of reactions of Ndi Anambra toward its policies and programmes.
Mr Adinuba expressed disappointment at the poor attitude of some Information Officers, who still find it difficult to write news stories, which he noted has defeated the essence of engaging them by the government
He stressed that no person can be successful in writing without working hard, stressing that information is crucial to the society.
Earlier, the Acting Director of Information in the Ministry, Mr Anthony Nweke regretted the poor attitude of Staff to work, including poor attendance, lateness and general negligence and warned that he will not hesitate to apply the Civil Service Rule to the letter on any erring officer.
Mr Nweke was represented at the meeting by a Deputy Director, Mrs Chineze George-Ileka.
Also speaking the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Tony Nezianya urged them to justify their pay through regular contributions to the daily news production of the Ministry.
