The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation has directed the Management of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka to transform the hospital to handle all cases related to health.

 

The Committee gave the directive when key officers of the hospital appeared before it for the assessment of their 2021 budget performance.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and  reports that  while assessing the performance of the hospital with respect to their 2021 budget, the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Obinna Emeneka, charged them to do more to justify the funds appropriated to them this year, and improve the standard of the hospital to keep it at par with any best teaching hospital in the world.

 

Responding, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Josephat Akabuike, explained that after his one hundred days in office, he has laid the foundation for growth in the hospital, and revealed that the Obiano administration has put in place a functional Dialysis Centre for the treatment of kidney problems.

 

He further said that all the wards in the hospital have been beautified to make patients comfortable, adding that his team is now working towards creating special units that can solve all health related problems.

 

Meanwhile, the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts has commended the Accountant of the Ministry of Basic Education, Mrs Ogonna Osita Okoli, for giving accurate account of the Ministry expenditure for the year 2020.

 

The Chairman of the Committee, Sir Somtochukwu Udeze, gave the commendation when key officers of the Ministry appeared before it for the verification of their audited account for the year under review.
