Anambra State Government says massive road construction will commence across the State in no distant time.

 

The State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor, gave the assurance while defending budget performance of the Ministry for 2021 before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation in the State House of Assembly Complex Awka.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim, reports that

Engineer Ifejiofor, who noted that good road network is the fulcrum of development, assured the Committee that between now and the dry season, many roads will be constructed to enhance socio-economic activities in the State.

 

The Chairman of the Committee, Chief Obinna Emeneka, explained that the meeting would enable the Committee to make informed decisions about what will be appropriated to the Ministry in 2022 Appropriation Bill.

 

Chief Emeneka asked key officials of the Ministry to access more funds and construct more roads across the State, for the overall budget performance of the State to be impressive.

 

The Committee applauded the International Cargo and Passenger Airport at Umueri accomplished by the Obiano administration through the Ministry of Works and charged officials to attain such feat in roads construction.

 

The Committee equally met with key officials of the Anambra State Judicial Service Commission and accessed their budget performance from January till date.
