The Anambra State Commissioner of Police Mr Tony Olofu has appealed to political parties to ensure violence free campaign ahead of State Governorship election. Paul Ezeoke reports that while
addressing members of some political parties at the Police Command Headquarters Amawbia, Mr Olofu stressed the need for them to conduct their campaigns without intimidating political opponents and impress on their supporters to avoid acts that could breach the peace.
He urged them to be guilded by laws and guidelines in the conduct of their campaign and should not move about with armed people that would harass or molest law abiding citizens as everybody has the right to pursue his or her political ambition.
The Police Commissioner assured that the Command will provide the necessary conducive and secured environment for all the political parties to campaign across the state.
Meanwhile, in continuation of his strategic engagement with stakeholders in the State to enhance public peace and promote peaceful coexistence, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olofu had earlier addressed members of Herders/Farmers Committee at the Government House, Awka.
CP Olofu who is the chairman of the Committee, calls for honest and patriotic involvement of all stakeholders aimed at identifying and prioritizing differences to develop deliberate plans in addressing them to enhance peaceful coexistence.
He said the Command is poised to operate an all-inclusive policing system that would help guide decisions that would promote collective interest of all .
