Christian Aid Nigeria has Unveiled effective data management system as Evidence and Collaboration for Inclusive Development Project comes to an end in Anambra state.
The data management system which received great support from the Anambra State government through the State Bureau of Statistics and Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning is aimed at enthroning a more prosperous Anambra through data collection and all inclusive governance.
The Close Out meeting held in Awka was well attended by stakeholders that partnered Christian Aid on Evidence and Collaboration for Inclusive Development project including community members, media, JDPC Onitsha and Civil Rights Concern, among others.
Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that that while speaking at the group breaking event organized to celebrate the achievements of ECID project in Anambra State, the Christian Aid Acting Country Director, TemiTope Fashola noted that the objective of the project is to build the effectiveness of civil society in accessing, gathering and presenting data and improve the use of evidence by the government geared towards poverty alleviation and improving the welfare of the citizenry.
He emphasized that Christian Aid which has been working in Anambra for over fifteen years has enjoyed robust collaboration with the State government and other partners.
The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners Mr Mark Okoye who noted that accurate data is key to effective planning assured of sustainability to better the life of every Onye Anambra.
The Christian Aid Senior Programme Coordinator for Anambra State Mr Uzor Uzoma commended all the community facilitators for their commitment to the success of Christian Aid Project in Anambra and advised the state government to continue from where the Christian Aid stopped by putting to optimal use the platform unveiled for effective data collection in Anambra which according to her will help the government in making policies that would impact positively on the life of Ndi Anambra and contribute to Economic growth and development.
The ASATU President, Chief Titus Akpudo while thanking Christian Aid for being partners in progress in Anambra State assured of greater commitment to data collection at the community levels.
Some of the Christian Aid partners on the ECID project including The founder Hope Givers Initiative, Mrs Onyeka Okey-Udegbunam and Dr Ben Nwosu of the Institute For Development Studies, University of Nigeria Enugu Campus pointed out that some of their findings with regards to out of school children, gender based violence, among others and expressed hope of a better society if their recommendations are fully implemented.
