The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has flagged off its campaign for the November sixth Anambra governorship election with a unifying rally.

 

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana, reports that the flag off rally was attended by leaders of the party across all levels and supporters at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

 

The campaign rally was preceded by an official endorsement of the party’s candidate in the election, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim when the former was presented the party’s flag.

Addressing the party’s supporters, Governor Obiano, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Ebelechukwu, tasked leaders of the party and Ndi-Anambra to work in unison to ensure Professor Soludo’s victory at the election.

 

The Governor said the party is united for Professor Soludo, while also assuring voters that APGA will retain Anambra State in a peaceful election on the sixth of November.

On his part, the Director General, APGA Campaign Council and Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, said the party had begun on a victorious note with the successful inauguration and flag off, urging voters to choose APGA at the poll for inclusive governance and sustenance of growth and development.

 

In their separate remarks, the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, and former Senator that represented Anambra Central in the National Assembly,  Senator Victor Umeh, reiterated that APGA needs to be reelected in Anambra State beyond all reasonable doubts, because it has distinguished itself on the basis of good governance over the years, urging everyone to go back to their various wards to mobilize voters.

 

Speaking on behalf of APGA National Assembly Caucus, Chief Chinedu Obidigwe, noted that it is time for Ndi-Anambra to pay Governor Obiano for the services he rendered, just as the Member representing Anaocha, Njikoka and Dunukofia Federal Constituency, Chief Dozie Nwankwo, pointed out that it is time for Ndi-Anambra to rise to the occasion and clinch their destiny by themselves through their vote because, according to him, APGA is the heritage of Ndi-Anambra.

 

The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uchenna Okafor, accompanied by other House members, threw weight behind APGA candidate and explained that the decision is informed by the visible development trajectory under the current administration.

Wife of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Chief Ifeoma Ekwueme, and APGA member representing Magama and Rijau Federal Constituency of Niger State, Honourable Shehu Saleh, thanked the party for choosing Professor Soludo, whom they described as the best among other candidates.

 

In his acceptance speech while presenting his manifesto titled “the Soludo Solution”, Professor Soludo expressed optimism that the party will come back victorious come November sixth with one million votes mark they had established, assuring that his administration will consolidate on APGA’s performances.

 

Speaking to the ABS, the State Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Bonaventure Enemali, APGA Chieftain, Chief Dan Ogbuefi, Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Agency, Venerable Amaechi Okwuosa, among others, said the presence and turn out of the people is a testament to the fact that Ndi-Anambra have chosen APGA and will hopefully demonstrate this choice at the polls.

 

Side attractions that added colour to the event were performances by the popular indigenous music maestros, including Flavour, Mr. Reel, actors Zubby Michael, Yul Edochie, among others.
