Rekindling the cultural heritage of the Igbo community ignited excitement on the face of everyone, who gathered at the Kenneth Dike Library, Awka, as the Ozioma Odinani annual lecture series in Igbo language, themed “Odinani na Omenani Igbo: Science, Technology, Security, Igbo language and Spirituality”takes the center stage.
Ozioma Odinani’ is a radio show on ABS 88.5 FM, anchored by Mr. Dike Nwaugbaja.
Applauding the anchor of the program, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Dr. Uche Nworah, appreciated his efforts towards promoting the customs and traditions of the Igbo people, noting its importance to the future generation.
A resource person, Chief Arinze Ahaeze, who spoke on the need for Igbo people to protect their culture through the practice of Odinani, listed re-enacting Odinani evangelism, reinstalling deities, preventive spirituality practices, investment in Odinani to build research and development centers specifically for Odinani as ways through which it could be achieved.
Another speaker, Chief Ndubisi Eze said he found life-long peace through the practice of Odinani, which according to him, helps to promote love, unity, and the patience needed to discover mysteries.
Also speaking, Mr. Nwaugbaja said that the program was geared towards making Ndi Igbo embrace their customs and traditions as every nation has its own culture, which its people, firmly practice.
In their separate remarks, the traditional prime minister of Ikenga Eziagu in Enugu State, Mr. Obunikem Asuzu, and Mrs. Nkiruka Agu thanked the convener for being an inspiration to the Igbo race advising the Igbos to embrace their cultural heritage for continuity.
Other speakers, including the Managing Director, Anambra Newspaper and Printing Corporation, Sir Chuka Nnabuife and Mr. Ifeoma Mebife, appraised the Igbo tradition.
