Anambra State Government says it will continue to develop economically viable areas for the continuous socio-economic development of the State.

 

Commissioner for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Mr. Uchenna Okafor, disclose this during the opening of Nkwor market, Umueze Anam, Anambra West Local Government Area, built by the member representing Anambra West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Honourable Patrick Obalim-Udoba.

Opening the market, Mr. Okafor eulogized Honourable Obalim-Udoba for responding to the yearnings of his people for sand-filling of the eleven plots of land for commercial purpose.

 

The Commissioner, described Umueze Anam as the gateway to Anambra West Local Government Area, the food basket of the State, and promised that the State Government will ensure that the economic activities of the area regain momentum.

Earlier, Honourable Obalim-Udoba said the Nkwor market Umueze Anam is very important to the people of the area and Anambra West in general, owing to the fact that when completed, it will be the first ultramodern market located in the entire council area.

 

The lawmaker noted that people of Anambra West Local Government Area are predominantly farmers, hence the need for a market for selling of produce and assisting the aged in the area to s,urvive financially.

 

Correspondent, Chibuzor Okoye reports that the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Trade, Honourable Sunday Nwasa, advised the people of Umueze Anam to make judicious use of the market, while donation of two thousand blocks by the Commissioner to support the project was among the highpoints of the event.
