The Ohaneze Ndigbo, Njikoka Local Government chapter, has been inaugurated.
Our Correspondent Queen Anigbogu reports, that the inauguration which took place at the Njikoka local Government headquarters in Abagana, featured award presentation and installation of patrons, with Traditional rulers, Presidents-general from the area, members of Anambra State executive of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, among others in attendance.
Before the commencement of the event, the group paid a courtesy visit to the Traditional ruler of Abagana, Obi Patrick Mbamalu-Okeke, who prayed God to help Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide achieve set goals for Ndigbo in Nigeria.
The Anambra State President Ohaneze Ndigbo, Prince Emeka Udodeme informed the Traditional ruler that the group came to inaugurate the executive of Njikoka Local Government chapter of the group and as well receive his fatherly blessings.
Inaugurating the Njikoka Local Government chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Prince Udodeme, harped on the need to begin from the grassroot to engender peace and development in Igboland, which he said Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide is known for.
He disclosed that every Igbo person from eighteen years of age is eligible for membership of Ohaneze Ndigbo, and appealed to Ndi Anambra to come out en-masse on November sixth and exercise their franchise.
Earlier in his welcome address, the new Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Njikoka Local Government chapter, Comrade Romanus Obeleagu, said the aims and objectives of the chapter, include, working with security agencies to ensure peace and security in the area, promoting Igbo language and culture, among others, and pleaded with people of the area to give them financial and other supports to enable them achieve set goals.
In his remarks, a cabinet member in Abagana community, Chief Ralph Okeakpu, commended the group for championing the course of Ndigbo in Nigeria, noting that wanton destruction of lives and property is alien to Ndigbo, even as he prayed for peaceful Anambra governorship election next month.
Chief Uchenna Nweke was among the people installed as patrons while Mr Benjamin Emoka was presented with an award for his philanthropic services to the vulnerable.
