The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has asked the Management and staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, to always respond quick to emergencies to save lives.
House of Assembly correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim, reports that the Committee gave the directive when key officials of the hospital appeared before it at the State House of Assembly Complex, Awka for the assessment of their 2021 budget performance.
The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Ejike Okechukwu, while assessing the performance of the teaching hospital, with respect to their 2021 budget performance, alongside other members of the Committee, hailed the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike, for laying the foundation for growth in the hospital after one hundred days in office.
The Committee also observed that the funds released to them this year were judiciously used, and charged them to press more for further releases to facilitate efficient service delivery.
On his part, Dr. Akabuike explained that he is working towards improving the standard of the hospital to enable it compete favourably with any best teaching hospital in the world in quality healthcare delivery.
The CMD revealed that he has put in place a dialysis centre for the treatment of kidney problems, as well as got three accreditations for the teaching hospital.
The Committee equally commended the Executive Secretary, Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Chioma Ezenyimulu and her team for vaccinating over ninety thousand persons in the State against COVID-19, using modena and AstraZeneca vaccines.
The Committee made the commendation when Dr. Ezenyimulu and her team appeared before it for the assessment of their 2021 budget performance.
The Committee observed that the Agency made judicious use of funds released to them, and asked them to step up their fight against killer diseases to safeguard the health of the people.
