A two day conference of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Anambra State Chapter has ended in Awka with a call on the people to always seek the services of Architects in building projects.

 

The Nigerian Institute of Architects was founded on first April 1960 as an association of independent professional architects with the aims and objectives of fostering friendship amongst members, catering for their welfare and establishing mutual support and cooperation.

The conference among other things, seek to produce members that create superior designs, and attain excellence in the creative management of the physical environment.

 

In an opening remark, the Chairman Nigerian Institute of Architects Anambra State Chapter, Mr Osita Okafor, enlightened the young architects on the roles of architecture, encouraging them to stand firm on their choice of career.

Speaking with the ABS, a guest speaker, Chief Mike Nwafor, said there is more to architecture than what is being seen and advised architects to acquaint themselves with contemporary field development.

Architectural students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University who were part of the conference, Miss Precious Okafor and Mr Joshua Akore, described architecture as a broad course and thanked   the Institute for giving them the opportunity to gain more knowledge.

 

The conference tagged ‘Architectural Practice in Nigeria, Challenges and Future Possibilities’ has in attendance members of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and student architects from different universities.

The event climaxed with a cash gift to the best Architectural students.
